Airfix Nostalgia Project - The Italian Job

This is the third and final post in this series, just to let readers see how I got on with the last model made, the Macchi MC.202 Folgore. That makes 7 fighters in all, from 6 nations.

The Folgore was just as much fun to make as all the others. The only problem was the old decals, which slid off the backing easily but then crinkled up badly when applied. I gave up and sourced some Italian decals from Print Scale, which were excellent.

This project started well before lockdown, but turned out to be an excellent way to pass the time and relax during my furlough. I honestly didn't expect to find the whole thing so satisfying. Great nostalgia and very absorbing.

Proper wargaming in the next post, I promise!

I'm sure your little project has been nostalgic for many of us, as it certainly has for me. Another lovely model and I always thought the Italian fighters had an elegant look to them, coupled with great camo schemes.

I am most pleased I asked for an Italian plane now.. I know it's no Spitfire but they did make some of the best looking planes.... mice work!

I think the Folgore able to hold its own with a Spifire V. Not very heavily armed though.

So how many more do you think you will add? I wonder if there is a game in there, need a big table though!

That's it for now. Although I did see a lovely 1/72nd kit of a Dornier Do.24 online recently...

Hi Keith,
Damnitz and I would like to report the same problem!
Seems serious, as we not enter the HoW forum.

I apologize for my last post, but it was my only way to access you quickly.

No problem. I had trouble accessing the site myself but it seems to have fixed itself. An unknown glitch I'm afraid.
