But my reading is that wargamers in the past, and some contemporary gamers, believe in the myth of 'civilised' and 'gentlemanly' wars fought for limited objectives and where civilians were safe and uninvolved.Keith Flinthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12903769462646267048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1430463007570237159.post-71766474439924951352013-10-11T16:05:20.808+01:002013-10-11T16:05:20.808+01:00I always thought it meant a "Golden Age FOR w...I always thought it meant a "Golden Age FOR wargamers". Pretty uniforms. Battles manageable for a modestly ambitious collection. Nice distinct horse and musket warfare. Linear tactics. It is the 'battle with toy soldiers' par excellence. Whereas with Napoleonic wargaming the armies just get flippin' HUGE and the variety of uniforms gets rather insane.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14996350912869829140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1430463007570237159.post-65202889685089288372013-10-11T06:34:56.438+01:002013-10-11T06:34:56.438+01:00Yes, well said. Revising the "romantic" notion of that period's wars is definitely one of his secondary goals.David Larkinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04133630988557116729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1430463007570237159.post-24435793554490259352013-10-10T21:33:46.044+01:002013-10-10T21:33:46.044+01:00My sentiments entirely.
