This seems to be a good 'test' scenario, and one worth repeating. Having said that, I don't believe paras are best employed attempting to storm a heavily defended locality. It might be more interesting, as this bridge is supposed to be in a rear area, to reduce the local defenders, but beef up the Polish reinforcements and/or the blocking troops.

It might also be interesting to see what difference it makes to land all AB troops on the 'far side' of the river, all on the 'near side' or, as you tried it, split between.

The split landings make a lot of sense, to seize both ends of the crossing (capturing one end only ain't much help. But the paras caught between fires would have been very unpleasant whether they had to advance into it as they did, or landed in 'der kessel' as they might have done.

Where things get really interesting is once the AB troops successfully carry and secure the bridge, they then have to hang on against mounting and increasingly desperate Polish counter-attacks, whilst the land forces try to break through and link up.

'Market-Garden' writ small - call it 'Operation Flower-Shop.'Archduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1430463007570237159.post-9794855363647005502014-03-31T16:26:06.875+01:002014-03-31T16:26:06.875+01:00Great to see some Polish action again Keith. I agree that the Polish force on the bridge seemed a tad strong, but the Germans getting fixated on the farmhouse was, well, simply unforgivable;).
